Women & Philanthropy's Speaker Series Presents Untangling DEI: Starts with the 4A's

VIDEO: Untangling DEI: Starts with the 4 A’s

The Women & Philanthropy Speaker Series seventh event, Untangling DEI: Starts with the 4 A’s with Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Renetta Garrison Tull, Ph.D., facilitated by LeShelle May on June 7, 2022.

Dr. Tull explored what the concepts of “diversity”, “equity” and “inclusion” mean, how they interact and depend on one another and why it matters. She also described the 4 A’s – Assumptions, Awareness, Acknowledgement and Action, and provided examples and scenarios of each. Dr. Tull left the audience with several powerful takeaways. For example, equity is not a zero sum game. Operating from a point-of-view that recognizes everyone’s humanity in all situations is the aspirational goal.
